What this policy covers

GrammarNook is a reference site: you can look up nearly every entry without providing any personal information at all. This policy explains the limited data the site does collect, from analytics, display advertising, an optional newsletter signup, the contact form, and payment processing for the paid cheat-sheet bundle and donations.

Information collected automatically

GrammarNook uses Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages are read, how visitors arrive, and where errors occur. This typically includes your approximate location (derived from IP address, not stored as a precise address), device and browser type, pages visited, and referring site. Analytics data is aggregated and used to improve the site's content and performance, not to identify you individually.

Cookies

Google Analytics uses cookies to tell one visit from another; Vercel Web Analytics works without them. Local storage may also remember a preference between visits. Google's advertising cookies, which can be used to personalise ads from your browsing on other websites, are explained in the next section.

Advertising

GrammarNook displays ads served by Google AdSense, which help fund the reference. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to deliver and measure these ads, and based on your ad settings they may be personalised using your visits to this site and to other websites. In the EEA and the UK, Google asks for your consent before any personalised-advertising cookie is set, and you can change that decision at any time.

Advertising never decides what an entry says. No usage verdict, past-tense form or confusable-pair explanation is sponsored, and no advertiser reviews a page before publication. Where an entry names a specific dictionary or style guide, it may link to that book on Amazon as an affiliate, as the affiliate disclosure explains.

Information you provide directly

If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is stored by the email delivery provider (Brevo) solely to send you updates you've signed up for, and is never sold or shared with unrelated third parties. Messages sent through the contact form are delivered to the site's inbox through Brevo's email service. If you purchase the cheat-sheet bundle or make a donation, payment is processed by Stripe; GrammarNook does not receive or store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly under its own privacy and security terms. If you email the site directly, that message and your email address are kept only as long as needed to respond.

Third-party services

The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard technical request data (IP address, request headers) as part of serving the site. Analytics and advertising are provided by Google (with Vercel Web Analytics alongside), newsletter and contact-form email run through Brevo, and purchase checkout runs through Stripe. Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on its platform.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any newsletter email. You can request that any personal data associated with your email address (newsletter subscription, contact correspondence) be deleted by emailing the address below. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws like the GDPR or CCPA to access, correct, or delete your data; requests can be sent to the same address.
